Welcome to Elaine Lockhart's virtual store Rare Bird Gallery in downtown Johnson City, Texas. Rare Bird Gallery is an eclectic collectibles specialty shop specializing in 50's kitch and funky objects of pop culture. We are open in Johnson City by appointment only. The shop specializes in debris left over from the 40's to the 60's, kitchy folk art, Modern lamps, and other funky objects. It also features painted furniture, Origami, books, and other objects created by Elaine herself.

The purpose of this web page is to exhibit objects that may be of interest to you; Mid Century Modern of the 50's and 60's that might go well with your own home's decor or your collectible interests. Lyndon B. Johnson achieved the zenith of his power during the time. At the same time, Johnson City became a focal point for media and political attention. Downtown Johnson City looks very much today as it did fifty years ago when Lyndon came back to Texas from his Washington, D.C. calling. Come see us soon.
